At Telemus, we know the importance of giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play. For the month of June, the firm held a virtual food drive for the Greater Chicago Food Bank.

On June 23, Client Service Manager Jennifer Gayton and Associate Advisors Kyle Deal, CFP®, and Andrew Hambleton, AWMA®, also volunteered at the Greater Chicago Food Bank’s Fresh Truck program.

The Telemus team supported staffing the check-in and health/nutrition table, being personal shoppers and re-stockers, and providing samples of the featured produce item.

“The experience was very encouraging. It especially touched my heart because we served in an area that I live near,” Gayton said. “People were very grateful. Some had big households and you could see how happy they were to get more than one of an item.”

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is a nonprofit organization that fights hunger throughout Cook County, Illinois. The food bank distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and community programs, serving more than 800,000 adults and children every year.

“I had a great time handing out the apples, limes, and pears,” Deal said. “The people coming through were happy we were there and excited to get some food for their house.”

Telemus was able to donate 968 meals through its virtual food drive in June.

“It was just very rewarding helping people in need and seeing the delight on their faces, knowing they would have food on the table and that there were people willing to help,” Hambleton said.
