The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has already had a number of far-reaching effects — including on our economy. Markets have become increasingly volatile, prompting Congress and the Federal Reserve to take action in hopes of preventing a recession or depression. With so much going on at once, it can be difficult keep track of the big picture.
We recently held a webinar with economist Michael Bazdarich to discuss the economic impacts of COVID-19. Specifically, we covered:
Michael is an economist and a Product Specialist at Western Asset, where his analysis helps the firm navigate changing economic landscapes and guides the firm’s investment strategies. Michael has over 42 years of industry experience, including 19 years running his own consulting firm, MB Economics, as a Senior Economist at the University of California, Los Angeles, and as an economist in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Michael holds a BA in Economics from Santa Clara University and earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
Matt is a Director of Investments at Telemus, where he helps to develop the firm’s investment strategy and spearheads the research of traditional investment managers and funds. Matt also supports the firm’s asset allocation efforts, along with researching alternative investment strategies. Matt has over 18 years of investment experience, including as a Principal with LaSalle Street Capital Management and as a Senior Research Analyst at Russell Investments.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and a CFA Charterholder, and he also sits on the Board of Directors of Bridge Communities, a non-profit that provides transitional housing to families.
