Financial Markets Commentary: Second Quarter 2023
Lower energy prices have led to a deceleration in the rate of headline inflation. However, core inflation, which excludes more volatile food and energy items, remains elevated and has generally remained static since December of last year. Progress has been made in containing inflation, however, further improvement is required. We expect the Fed to maintain an elevated level of interest rates until there is a notable reduction in core inflation.
