    | January 25, 2023

2022 was a challenging year for investors as both stocks and bonds experienced declines. The stereotypical portfolio made up of 60% stocks and 40% bonds had its worst year since 1937. However, the New Year will bring its own set of risks given that inflation remains a wild card, there are indications that the probability of an economic recession is growing, geopolitical risks are elevated, and expectations around corporate earnings appear too optimistic.
